Are you watching people living their dream life?

Quit hanging on to the handrails . . . Let go. Surrender. Go for the ride of your life. Do it every day. –  Melody Beattie

A while back, I was talking to a friend about a movie I had watched, and to my surprise, he told me he never watched TV.  He didn’t even own one.

He told me didn’t want one. He did not want to sit and watch other people living out their dream life; following their passion.

He said on TV you see actors doing the things they love, and getting paid to do it. You see singers singing their hearts out, and thoroughly enjoying themselves.
Why sit and watch them living their dream life when he could go out and live his own life.

As such, when he was not at work, he spent his time playing the saxophone in a jazz band, dancing salsa, having dinner with friends, flying his model aircraft, motor biking and throwing absolutely fabulous parties.

He travels to different parts of the world to take part in Salsa dance competitions, and every few years he travels to the USA with his friends and bikes across a few States. (He has a fair bit of money)

I like watching movies, and at times I spend too much time looking at the telly, but what he said made sense.

A lot of us, myself included, sit at home watching telly for hours. We are looking at people having a great time, and wishing we had a more interesting life.

Of course, our lives are going to feel dull. Why won’t it? When we are sitting around watching other people have a fun.

Be bold and mighty forces will come to your aid. In the past, whenever I had fallen short in almost any undertaking, it was seldom because I had tried and failed. It was because I had let fear of failure stop me from trying at all. – Arthur Gordon

I know a good movie can make us feel happy; it can uplift us, it can move us. But essentially we are been made uplifted and moved by the actions of others. Someone has been paid, probably handsomely, to stir up our emotions.  We did not create those emotions in ourselves.
We pressed a few buttons on a remote control and sat back and watched people living their dream. We need to stop watching people living their dreams and start living our own dream life.

Very few of us can afford to do all the things we want, but we can START to do some of the things that make us happy and will make our lives better.

Stop watching people living their dreams, and start living your life.
